A mamezara(豆皿) is a small plate with a diameter of about 2.5 to 4 inches that fits in the palm of your hand.
The literal translation of the name "Mamesara" is "Bean Plate," where "Mame" means beans and "Sara" means plate. It means a small plate like a bean. These small plates are often used to hold condiments, pickles, or small amounts of food during a meal.
In Japan, some patterns have been considered to bring good luck since ancient times.
Plum blossoms bloom during the harsh winter months, so they are considered a symbol of patience and vitality.Also the plover is said to be "thousand-birds" or "bring a thousand fortunes," and is a familiar pattern that brings good luck.
