This Traditional Japanese Lucky Charm is a Perfect Gift

ENGIMONO means lucky charm in Japanese. “ENGI” is a Buddhist term, which means “everything arises (GI) due to fate (EN).” Buddhism believes that all phenomena and things do not consist of themselves but are caused by countless “EN”. Since ancient times, the concepts “ENGI is good (lucky)” and “ENGI is bad (unlucky)” have been embodied by various objects that carry many spiritual and significant meanings in Japan.

Many objects in Japan have been treated as lucky charms, believed to bring good luck since ancient times. Lucky charms can be used as gifts to express daily gratitude, as they hold meanings such as an increase to grain harvest, a big catch of fish, business prosperity, family safety, and so on.
