Description

MATSUKAN Takanori Matsumoto
Takanori Matsumoto

These chopsticks are made by the Wakasa lacquer chopsticks brand, a traditional craft with over 400 years of history. While preserving traditional chopstick-making techniques, craftsmen carefully craft each one.

Chopsticks come in a variety of shapes, including round, square, hexagonal, and octagonal. As the number eight indicates, the octagonal shape is considered to be auspicious because it spreads out at the end. In feng shui, it is said that the octagon attracts happiness from all directions and wards off evil spirits.

The chopsticks are square in shape, with the corners slightly rounded off at the top, making it easy to grasp the surface with the pads of your fingers. The tips of the chopsticks are also finished to a moderate thinness, making it easy to grasp small objects. The moist feel of the lacquer also feels familiar to the skin of your hands.

Although the surface is smooth and silky, the chopsticks themselves have a matte texture rather than a shiny shine. The luster that seems to seep from within is what makes lacquer lacquer beautiful. The deep color created by layering the paint also conveys a sense of high quality.

Because these are items that you pick up and put in your mouth every day, they are made by artisans using only natural materials and crafted carefully one by one.

Painted chopsticks are evenly and carefully painted many times, making them smooth to the touch and an exceptional product that you will want to continue using carefully.

Chopsticks are considered auspicious gifts in Japan. For that reason, they are also used as wedding gifts, with prayers for long life and everlasting happiness.

They are the perfect gift for someone special.
