Description
"Unkindo Fukatsu Fan Shop" continues to preserve the tradition and technique of Edo folding fans, making fans not only for the imperial family but also for successive Kabuki actors such as Tamasaburo Bando and Tokizo Nakamura.
Unlike Kyoto fans, which are made by a division of labor, Edo fans are unique in that one craftsman goes through more than 30 steps.
Because she is familiar with all processes, she is able to incorporate various ideas and create original works that only a craftsman can. The fans from Unkindo Fukatsu Fan Shop are characterized by their unique designs.
Rather than simply incorporating traditional Japanese classic patterns, she takes inspiration from them, mix them with modern sensibilities, and sublimate them into original designs.
She is one of only two Edo fan craftsmen today.
Most of our fans are one-of-a-kind, so if you see a pattern you like, please purchase it as soon as possible. Each fan is a precious item.
Enjoy this stylish Edo folding fan, as it makes a beautiful clicking sound when it closes.
