Description
A mamezara(豆皿) is a small plate with a diameter of about 2.5 to 4 inches that fits in the palm of your hand.
The literal translation of the name "Mamesara" is "Bean Plate," where "Mame" means beans and "Sara" means plate. It means a small plate like a bean. These small plates are often used to hold condiments, pickles, or small amounts of food during a meal.
In Japan, some patterns have been considered to bring good luck since ancient times.
The ginkgo pattern is a symbol of vitality as it is long-lived and resistant to fire, and is also a symbol of marital harmony as it is male and female. Ginkgo trees are also planted in many shrines and are considered sacred trees.
