Description
A mamezara(豆皿) is a small plate with a diameter of about 2.5 to 4 inches that fits in the palm of your hand.
The literal translation of the name "Mamesara" is "Bean Plate," where "Mame" means beans and "Sara" means plate. It means a small plate like a bean. These small plates are often used to hold condiments, pickles, or small amounts of food during a meal.
In Japan, some patterns have been considered to bring good luck since ancient times.
Hemp is a plant that grows very quickly and has a strong vitality. For this reason, hemp leaf patterns are often used on swaddling clothes and amulets to ward off evil spirits and wish for the healthy growth of children.
